Alexis & Brad

Bride and groom stroll around an overlook during their Oregon Coast multi day wedding.

Four years before their wedding, Alexis told me something that meant the world to me: “The day I get married, you’re going to be my photographer.”

She’d come to one of my Hey Darling workshops and we had stayed up late talking about photography, art, and what it means to document moments that matter. And when she said those words, I knew she meant them.

Years later, I photographed their surprise proposal in Hawaii. And then came their wedding weekend in Oregon – a two-day celebration that brought them and their loved ones from Texas to the Pacific Northwest.

After two full days celebrating their Brookings elopement, Alexis sent me the sweetest message. She shared that in order for this day to happen, their whole family had pitched in to make sure we could work together. That kind of love (for each other and from their family) made this two day celebration even more meaningful.

Why They Chose a Brookings Oregon Elopement Experience

Alexis and Brad are from Texas, but they always loved the Pacific Northwest. In fact, this exact location was the place they had gone to on their first road trip together as a couple, so in a lot of ways, it was more than their wedding location, it was a place that also held a lot of meaning for their relationship.

For their wedding, they wanted an intimate celebration, but they didn’t want it to feel isolated. They wanted their loved ones present, so they planned a two-day destination micro wedding and brought everyone to Oregon.

Day one would be their ceremony and reception in the woods, surrounded by the people they love most. And day two would take them back to Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor on the Southern Oregon coast near Brookings – the exact place where their adventure had begun.

Alexis & Brad’s Two Day Brookings Elopement on the Southern Oregon Coast

Day One: An Woodland Wedding Ceremony with Family

The first day of their Brookings elopement wedding unfolded in the forest under string lights. Alexis and Brad started their morning sitting side by side at a picnic table, writing their vows together in the quiet of the woods before getting ready separately.

When it came time for the ceremony, Alexis’s grandfather stood at the front. He had officiated many weddings before, but had never done one for family and never for his granddaughter. Having him lead their ceremony made it even more emotional and, of course, had everyone crying – even me.

After the ceremony everyone gathered in the forest for a fairytale reception designed by Rain and Pines. There were string lights and long tables full of people who had traveled across the country to be there.

Then, after dinner and toasts, the couple ended the night pouring their hearts out onto the dance floor with their guests until late in the night.

Day Two: Private Vows Where Their Story Began

Day two was just for the couple.

Four years earlier, they had taken their first road trip down the Southern Oregon coast. They’d driven through Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor, pulled over at viewpoints, and climbed down to hidden beaches.

That trip became a large part of their story. So when they planned their Brookings Oregon elopement, they knew they wanted to return – not just for photos, but to exchange private vows in the place where their adventure had started.

Ready to Plan Your Brookings Oregon Elopement?

When Alexis and Brad planned their elopement in Brookings, Oregon, their whole family showed up. Not just physically (though they did all fly from Texas to Oregon), but they showed up in the ways that mattered.

Family members pitched in to make sure the couple could have the wedding they’d dreamed of. Alexis’s grandfather officiated an emotional ceremony. Friends traveled across the country and celebrated with everything they had. Everyone showed up present and ready to celebrate these the couple.

This two-day micro wedding proved that intimate weddings aren’t about choosing between your people and private moments. Sometimes the most meaningful celebrations include both.
