Meet Henry Tieu Photography – Seattle Wedding & Elopement Photographer
Henry Tieu Photography is a Seattle-based team of three — Henry, Sergio, and Nick — photographing elopements and weddings around the world. Award-winning since 2018. Featured in the New York Times and Rangefinder Magazine. Trusted by 200+ couples across six continents. We make photographs that bring you back to how it felt to be there.

His photos are the closest thing to time travel we have. Every image puts you right back into the feeling of the day — the nerves in your stomach, the wind through your hair, the kind of laughter that makes your cheeks hurt

– OUR BELIEF
What Do We Actually Believe About Weddings and Love?

We are Henry, Sergio, and Nick, three best friends and Seattle wedding & elopement photographers who came together not just to build a business, but to build something that actually means something.
Just like where you are today, we each went through wedding planning with our own partners. We know what it feels like to face the noise and the pressure of what a wedding is “supposed” to look like.
This is what we truly believe in:
At the core of who we are as humans, we already know how we want to live, to love, to experience this life.
But somewhere along the way, especially during wedding planning, that inner voice can get drowned out by expectations, opinions, traditions, and the pressure to make everyone else happy. So many people begin downplaying the very things they were once excited about, simply because they’re afraid of being judged, disappointed, or hurt.
But when you minimize what lights you up, you also diminish the joy of finally living it. When you play down what you’re excited about because you don’t want to get hurt, you diminish the excitement and joy when it actually happens.
We believe your wedding should feel like an honest reflection of what matters most to you, not a performance for everyone else.
We want you to not only remember the moments, but also to feel them, to hear them, and to remember the taste of the dew in the air… years and years from now… when you sit by the fire and tell the story of your beginnings.

Photographing since 2018 · Rangefinder 30 Rising Stars 2020 · New York Times · Sony Alpha
I’ve been photographing weddings and elopements since 2018. Named one of Rangefinder Magazine’s 30 Rising Stars in 2020. You’ve probably seen our work in the New York Times, Business Insider, or Sony Alpha. But honestly, none of that matters as much as what I learned before all of this.
I spent years working as a Cardiac ICU nurse. I watched life happen in the most unexpected ways. All we have is now.
Life waits for no one. So I decided to live mine — and help others live theirs — especially on the one day that marks the beginning of something new, magical, and worth every second.
That’s why elopement photography isn’t just my job. It’s my calling.
By chance or fate, you’ve landed here. I’m glad you have.
Cheers, Henry

I’ve always been a dreamer, an observer, a free-spirit. The one to notice the allure of small details. The wonder of a never-before-seen perspective. The artistry in everyday life settings. Photography is what I do, but, if we take a step back, what really lights my soul up is human connection, capturing emotions, memories and creating the art of you.
My story begins when, many moons ago, my then girlfriend (now wife) Pamela and I moved to Italy to be with her family. While we were there, we had so many adventures traveling near and far. Throughout it all, I photographed the big and little moments. Each night before bed, we would lay down and she would tuck her head into my shoulders. We would scroll through the photos together and just smile. We relived those moments many times over and just couldn’t help but be overwhelmed with not only a rush of joyous and nostalgic emotions, but the realization of how each one of these moments built our love story. When we returned stateside, I bought my first professional camera and the rest is history.
I am so lucky to get to do what I do and share this light with your light. Let me be your third wheel and together, we can tell the most beautiful story – yours. While we are at it, let’s create some seriously breathtaking, customized and musing art that will be a part of your legacy forever more.
Cheers, Sergio
Nick — Lead Photographer
HE/HIM | GIRL DAD | AMAZING ALLY
Photographing since 2010 · Seattle, Washington-based · Owner of Wandering Weddings
I’m Nick — husband, father to two amazing little girls, and an adventure junkie at heart. Born in Cleveland, my love for the outdoors brought me to Washington in 2017.
I can’t believe I get to do what I love every day — especially doing it together as a team.
I’m all about capturing the story of your day without getting in the way. Real moments, real emotions, little details that make your day truly yours.
Oh, and one more thing — I’m extremely goofy, so expect a lot of laughs.
Cheers, Nick

A conversation with Chris Burkard
When Sony reached out about sitting down with Chris Burkard for First Take, I had to read the email twice.
Chris is one of the photographers I grew up watching. The kind whose work made me believe a camera could take you anywhere — frozen Iceland, the Aleutians, the edge of the world. So when the conversation turned to wedding photography, to what it actually means to document people instead of landscapes, I wasn’t sure what to expect.
We spent the day fly fishing. We talked about leaving nursing. About what shows up in a frame when you stop performing and just stand next to someone on the most charged day of their life. About why I do this work at all.
If you’re trying to figure out who I am before you trust me with your day, this conversation might be the most honest answer I can give.
