Leahmai & Chris’s Adventure Elopement with Friends and Family at Taft Point and Glacier Point | Yosemite National Park Adventure Elopement and Intimate Wedding Photographer

Bride and groom with matching underwear to make their elopement unique and personal at Taft Point Yosemite National Park

From exchanging their vows at Glacier Point at sunrise then hike to Taft Point at sunset, Leahmai and Chris’s adventure elopement at Yosemite National Park is full of cute personal details and gorgeous lights for the best wedding photos.

Elopements mean different things to different people. To some, it might be going to the courthouse to say “I do” and end with bar hopping with your new spouse. To some, it’s an adventure between the two of them and their photographer. To Leahmai and Chris, it’s a day full of love and laughters with some of their closest friends at one of the most beautiful places in California, Yosemite National Park.

Yosemite National Park is one of my favorite National Parks to photograph. Surrounded by the Sierra Nevada mountains, Yosemite is around 3 hours away from San Francisco International Airport. If you have heard of this place, you probably have seen photos of couples getting married at Glacier Point and Taft Point, two of the most popular places in Yosemite. However, this park offers so much more than that. From the Yosemite Valley, you can see iconic vista of towering Bridal veil Fall and the granite cliffs of El Capitan and Half Dome. If you are a bit more adventurous and want to ditch the crowds, you can hike Half Dome (up to 17 miles total).

With how beautiful the park is and how close it is to San Francisco, no wonder why Yosemite is on the top 5 most visited National Parks in the United States almost every year. And with that being said, how do you plan on an elopement or wedding at a beautiful place but also keep everything intimate without other visitors nearby?

This is where I came in. With countless hours on doing research and reading up on blog posts, I’ve prepared myself and all of my couples for what to do and what not to do wherever we go and that was exactly what I did with Leahmai and Chris.

Elope In Yosemite National Park: A Day Full of Love & Adventure With The Most Important People In Your Life

The couple and I woke up and started driving to Glacier Point at the early morning hours. I drove Chris and the couple’s friends drove Leahmai so they can have their first look at Glacier Point with the beautiful view of Half Dome. With their best friend marry them, Leahmai and Chris had such an intimate and emotional ceremony with almost no other visitor nearby.

We spent the morning drooling over one of the most breathtaking sunrises ever and ended with a fun picnic under a tree. In the afternoon, we adventured on and hiked to Taft Point for some more gorgeous adventurous photos during sunset.

My most favorite thing about Leahmai and Chris’s elopement at Yosemite National Park is the fact they brought all kind of personal touches to their day. Chris wore a pair of pink socks with their cats’ faces all over. The bride and her bride squad with cute matching denim jackets. The couple carried the “Just Married” sign throughout the whole hike and ended the day with flashing me with their matching underwear then hiked back in the dark with their headlamps.

Some typical myths I keep hearing over and over is that an elopement means you are lonely or that you don’t care much about your day, which is 100% not true. Leahmai and Chris’s adventure elopement at Yosemite National Park shows that you can still have friends and family at your wedding and that you can still personalize your day to make it unique and best of all, you are investing in an experience that’s worth a lifetime of memories rather than the theatrical of a typical wedding that they did not feel connected with.

Some kind words from the couple:

This review is LONG overdue. Henry Tieu was our amazing wedding photographer. It was truly meant to be that he was our photographer. Chris and I were not planning on getting married when we did, but Henry happened to be in Yosemite when we were planning on vacationing in California. It almost seemed too good to be true that a photographer I had been dreaming about from the other side of the country would be in the same place as me. Things got even better with our first call, we hit it off and I knew that it was meant to be. Chris and I booked Henry not too long after that call and we were so excited for the day to come. Throughout the whole process Henry was terrific, no matter how many questions I threw his way. Finally the day before my big day and he sets up time to meet us even though he was working on no sleep. My wedding day arrives and it couldn’t have gone better. Henry was an amazing hype person throughout the whole day. His experience and expertise really shined through when dealing with other park guests and finding the angles to get the best shots. Overall he couldn’t have been more detail oriented while allowing us to be comfortable and enjoy the moment. It was truly amazing to work with him. I hope we get to work with him again someday!
