Ivan & Spencer | Adventure Engagement Photos with Mountain and Waterfall Views | Seattle Washington Gay Wedding Photographer
Ivan and Spencer flew from Phoenix to Seattle for their engagement session with me. The couple found me on instagram after I photographed one of their friends. Personally, this means the world to my heart when I get booked from client referrals. This reflects everything I believe in and how I want to run my business: Focus on not only capturing beautiful photos but also in connections and relationships.
I met with the these handsome studs at a local Starbucks (how else do you welcome someone to Seattle? Haha), then drove the couple to this beautiful location I found while doing research for Best Places for Photos in Washington.
As a gay person myself, I know how precious photos like these mean to the couple. I also know that it is not easy for gay couples to just get intimate and cuddly in public. Some gay people like myself can be a bit more self-conscious about who we are, scared about out safety, or just worry what we might upset people for being gay and that can create challenges for capturing organic and authentic photos for the couple.

So What Do I Do To Help My LGBTQ Couples For Engagement and Wedding Photos?
For Ivan and Spencer, I listened to them to find a place with beautiful views of mountain and waterfall because these views are so “PNW” that they don’t get in Arizona.
From listening about their wishes and and what speaks to their hearts, I brought the couple to this beautiful location at a time where I knew we would not be surrounded by other hikers and crowds.
I created an environment where the Ivan and Spencer could communicate with me who they are and how they feel so we can go slow and photograph INTENTIONALLY.
We adventured on and ran around the woods for some of these epic photos. We all got wet for being super close to the waterfall then hiked back in the dark. This was also the first time I’ve ever driven a couple all the way back since Ivan and Spencer didn’t rent a car for this trip. It was awesome in every way since we get to talk about everything we did together and learned about each other even more.
Ivan and Spencer, thanks for coming into my life and allowed me to capture your love organically. Thanks for being great friends who keep on checking on me. I miss you both and I cannot wait for the day we get to see each other again. Till that day, you both stay safe and healthy! (I’m writing this blog post the Coronavirus Pandemic)
