I have a little moth tattoo on my arm. People ofte I have a little moth tattoo on my arm. People often asked “Why moth? What’s the significant of it?” And my answer is quite simple: Just like moths, I’ll find light in the dark. And I’ll be that light for those who need it the most. I found the most spectacular light on this day for K and D. When planning for K and D’s adventure, the number goal wasn’t about the moon and the stars. It was always about the magic of being present, on top of the mountain, shouting the words of love, immersing fully into the experience of committing to another person But as I was working on their timeline, I saw the way the Milky Way would appear at the exact moment we start hiking down so I presented the idea of photographing 2 hours past sunset time for these photos in the dark Something about that time of day when the sun softly falls asleep behind the mountains and the stars gently twinkles from above is so calming and inspiring Maybe it’s the signal that our elopement day is about to end and that we better take it all one last time before it all just becomes another day. Or maybe the darkness allow us to see better, to be more in tune with our emotions, to be free of worries, to focus only on the last couple of moments here, moments that feel as long as the horizon
 This day was a dream and I still remember the look on K and D’s faces when they saw the moon and again when they saw the Milky Way. We hugged goodbye but it wasn’t really a goodbye. First dance on top of the mountain truly is my fav First dance on top of the mountain truly is my favorite way to end an elopement day. There’s magic in staying up on top of the mountain even 2 hours past sunset time when everyone has already hiked down way before us. Something about that time of day when the sun softly falls asleep behind the mountains and the stars gently twinkles from above is so calming and inspiring Maybe it’s the signal that our elopement day is about to end and that we better take it all one last time before it all just becomes another day. When the GOAT of wilderness meets the GOAT of phot When the GOAT of wilderness meets the GOAT of photography Nahh.. just kidding ;) It’s wild to imagine but J and C’s 2-day intimate wedding/elopement had total opposite weather In the midst of a typical Washington heat wave, the couple basked in their loved one’s warm embrace. Every detail you see here, from clearing out the farm to setting up all the decors, was brought to life by their family. Then on the second day, where they got to spend quality time with one another, we were all covered in a thick layer of fog until the very end where the sun somehow poked through and gave us an amazing sunset. I have to be honest, I’ve photographed elopements after elopements but I still get nervous about the weather. Not because I am scared of it. Elsa could never!!! Because the cold never bothere Elsa could never!!! Because the cold never bothered us anyways Get ready for more dad jokes as I shared more amazing elopement stories from now on haha. In all seriousness, K and G’s elopement in Alaska was the very first elopement I photographed right after the birth of my twins. Being a dad definitely has opened my eyes a lot more about how important life moments are and how to really capture them. And most important of all, life shouldn’t be so serious all the time Art is about joy, the inner little kid, the breaking free…and so is elopement…and so is life I want foster a safe space for all my couples where there is joy even if there wasn’t before, where there is no judgement, no shame, no “must”, no “have to”…only intentional quality time and true happiness K and G took me to Alaska, rode a helicopter, we all drank glacial water, danced on a mountain top, and danced again to Taylor Swift’s back at their cabin while watching the sky turned to pink and purple K and G, thank you for believing in my photography and for trusting me to be their on your magical elopement day. For every elopement I get to be a part of, it feel For every elopement I get to be a part of, it feels like I’m reading a book. These books already have their own beginnings and will continue on…but at least for now…on this day…in this moment…I get to be a writer and get to permanently document a few sentences onto the book that is someone’s life story. To preserve memory…to capture the tsunami of human’s emotions…to write visual poetry of what it means to love and to be loved…All of it…It truly is a privilege This is why it was so hard to say goodbye to C and A at the end of their elopement by the Oregon Coast It feels like reading the end of a book you deeply love. You know the pages will end so you read it slowly. Each word tend to fall further apart and the spaces between those words become the mixed feelings of wanting to hug goodbye just one last time but knowing we all have to part ways @rainandpines and I were the only two vendors they had and we felt like we were being adopted to the family. The reception that was supposed to end at 11:30pm but somehow we didn’t leave until 2am because we were lost in honest laughters, meaningful conversations, and genuine connections. I’m forever grateful for this day, these two, and all of their loved ones.
