KIND WORDS

The care put into these details really touched us because Henry really cared to make sure that however they day went it would be special for us

Henry made the PROCESS of eloping, not just the day of a memorable and intentional experience. Henry kept continual contact with us to update us on trails he was considering, permits he obtained, or answering questions on things to prepare. He shared so much excitement for our day that goes above and beyond what we ever expected of a photographer/client relationship. One thing that really stand outs was when, just a couple weeks prior, our original hike could not get permitted, Henry quickly turned around a new timeline for an entirely different hike that fit us so well. What we didn’t realize until we talked with him on the day of our elopement was that he also had multiple backup plans. He explored the canyon days before our elopement to find a location we could easily hike to if it rained. He also rented a jeep in case it was too foggy, so we could also get photos with the jeep. ALSO, obviously the photos! Henry shared “sneaks” with us the next day!! What’s cool to think about is that we experienced our elopement in a certain way and will forever cherish those memories, and we will also be able to see how Henry captured our day and somehow turned our memories into art. Thank you, Henry!

5 TIPS FOR YOUR kauai ELOPEMENT EXPERIENCE

couple eloped on the beach at sunset

1) Anyone can elope but elopement is not for everyone. You don’t want to regret your wedding day. Read these 6 things to consider before eloping

2) Plan early in order to guarantee a wedding permit (applicable for most locations in Kauai; As there are different jurisdictions when it comes to locations, you might need more than one permit)

KIND WORDS

One of the things I loved was how organic things were, he didn’t have a script of exactly what he wanted, he just saw things as they came up and made the whole process incredibly easy.

Henry is such a kind and inviting person, we knew from the moment we met him that he was the person we wanted to photograph our elopement. He regularly shared information, especially in the couple of months prior to the big day. When we found out last minute that our ideal beach (for sunset photos) was shut down, he immediately sprung into action to find alternative options. He even scouted additional locations when he arrived to Kauai and ended up finding a spot that was so incredible. Our sneak peek photos are nothing short of incredible. He even entertained our photo ideas along the way! Thank you, Henry, for making our day so special!!!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We operate fully on transparency and empowerment. We believe that YOUR elopement day is YOUR wedding day and this day will forever be a part of you and your legacy. It signifies the beginning of your next chapter and hold significant meanings to every aspect of your life.

Therefore, you deserve a photographer whom you can truly connect with as they are the one who’s in charge of fleeting moments and memories of your day

We hope we can be your Kauai Elopement Photographers but We STRONGLY believe that you should look around for options, view each photographer’s portfolio, read their reviews, and talk with them in order to really have a clear picture of how they work and how they can help you. Each photographer’s approach to wedding photography is like their DNA, it’s an extension of who they are

For us, we focus on an INTENTIONAL EXPERIENCE & ARTFUL PHOTOGRAPHS. In order to do so, we do more than just photography. We’ll be there with with you every step of the way to help you though this journey

We also believe in the power of your story, what makes you unique, and what you value rather than how you look or how your photos should look because of trends.

To learn more about what it’s like to work with us, view our Elopement Experience.

Similar to most Hawaiian islands, Kauai’s tropical weather is mild most of the year and this means you can elope almost anytime of the year. From our experience, April to June and September to November are often the best months as you can enjoy the warm sunny days while avoiding the summer season where there are more tourists on the island. November to March is a bit more wet but with a wet season, but with that, that’s when waterfalls are flowing

Just like elopements anywhere in nature, keep in mind that Kauai’s weather can be unpredictable, so it’s essential to have a backup plan and be prepared for any surprises. And of course we’ll be there every step of the way to help you plan for the unexpected and unknowns

One hundred percent. Elopement isn’t just about running away or keeping it all a secret. It should be an experience where you can enjoy the whole day with whomever you would like to be there. Therefore, for us, we consider elopements and intimate weddings the same.

Although we don’t limit the amount of guests you should have, some National Parks, State Parks, BLM Lands place limits on the guest size to protect trails and native plants.

We’ve noticed that a guest list of about 30 or so can still ensure a low-stress experience. If you are interested in having more than 30 guests, we can always chat to figure out a location and a plan to give you the best experience and photos.

You can elope without photography for as low as $60 (marriage license cost) or up to $33,900+ (with vendors, locations, etc…). How much your elopement will cost depends on what what you want to experience and your guest size. At a minimum, you’ll need wedding attires and a photographer.

We have an entire blog post on how much does it cost to elope that also includes a handy elopement calculator.

Our Kauai elopement packages start at $7,900. To learn more about everything that’s included in our services and how we can help, please visit our Pricing Page.

Unlike most states in the U.S, in Hawaii, you both will need to be physically present in person to obtain a marriage license and once it’s issued, you have 30 days to get married before the license expires.

You also don’t need any witnesses. You just need an officiant (and us as your photographer of course 😊)

We will be there every step of the way to help you with important deadlines to make sure your elopement experience not only legal but also magical. For a full guide on how to elope in Hawaii, read our guide here.

Most of our elopements average between 6-10 hours but how many hours you need will depend on how many locations you want to experience, how many guests you would like to have, and what activities you would like to experience for your elopement day.

A half-day elopement is around 6 – 8 hrs. Couples interested in both sunrise and sunset or multiple locations book a full day (10+ hrs.) Couples who want both a wedding experience where they spend the whole day with guests and also an elopement experience where they can spend private time together on a separate day book us for 2 days.

See our elopement packages for additional information and if you have any additional questions or are ready to book, send us a message and let’s get started!

Adventure elopements for us aren’t always about hiking. We believe that YOU DON’T NEED TO HIKE TO HAVE A BEAUTIFUL ELOPEMENT DAY

If hiking is what you enjoy, we’ll be ready with our hiking boots and some snacks to share. However, if it’s not something you love, we can certainly help find easy access locations for you and your family.

Trails in Kauai can range from minimal walk and up to 8 miles total. For trails in Waimea Canyon or Koke’e state park, we’ve found beautiful trails between 1 – 6 miles. Whereas trails near the south side such as Poipu or the north side such as Ha’ena Beach are often shorter.

If you’re looking to hike, we recommend no more than 2-3 miles each way since hiking for an elopement experience is different from hiking for fun as you’ll be carrying gears and outfits you’d typically not have.

  1. Once you’ve decided that eloping is for you, reach out to us on our contact page.
  2. We’ll get on a call to get to know each other and for us to share with you more knowledge, details, tips and resources.
  3. Once we figure out the best date for the best weather at your dream location, we’ll prepare a contract in order to reserve that date right away.
  4. After that, we go into planning mode together to make sure this experience is personalized and customized to your vision and your needs.

Trust us, it is as easy as it sounds 🙂

ALEACE & LEE

ELOPED IN HAWAII

No matter the words I type – I want you to take the time to go look at his work. Henry was our dream wedding photographer and being able to work with him is something we will forever be grateful for.

Where to begin – Henry was everything we didn’t know we needed and everything we knew we needed. From the very beginning, I could see the passion and care that he brought to the table. Henry took a dream that we had in our heads and made it a reality. We got married in Hawaii and there are a ton of regulations and laws around marriage/photography there – Henry was on top of everything and kept us up to date through the entire process.

Every time we look back on our wedding pictures we are so extremely happy with them and how our day turned out. If you are trying to decide if Henry is the right photographer for you – just know he will take care of you every step of the way and capture some jaw-dropping photos as well.

ELOPED IN KAUAI, HAWAII

Working with Henry was by far the best decision we made when planning a wedding and ultimately deciding to elope. After getting engaged, we spent many hours, months and days trying to decide on our best option (eloping vs. a small wedding.) We knew we wanted to elope but were unsure how to go about it or what we should/shouldn’t do. We weren’t coming up with anything and were stressed with how to start the planning process. The initial process seemed difficult, stressful and not as enjoyable as getting engaged had been.

One night, we were scrolling through google, Instagram and Pinterest trying to come up with a good place to start. That night, my wife Josey came across Henry’s Instagram page and that was it. We were obsessed with the pictures, the website, all the information and overall everything Henry had to offer even prior to reaching out to him directly. The next few weeks we tried exploring other options before we made a final decision and there wasn’t any comparisons. Every time we would talk about wedding planning, we would go back to Henry’s website/ instagram and scroll endlessly. Josey looked at me one night and said “ if we don’t go with Henry’s work, we are always going to look back on our wedding pictures and regret it.” That could not have been more accurate!

After that, we reached out to Henry and it was nothing but the best experience from start to finish. From the first email, to the first zoom meeting, to the planning, the months leading up, the whole day of the elopement and even after the elopement. At no point did anything feel forced. Every email, text or conversation felt like we were talking to a friend who was always open and receptive to whatever we were thinking about or looking for. Working with Henry took so much stress away from us. It made planning fun and enjoyable which is everything getting married should be.

The day of the elopement was an absolute dream!! The entire experience and elopement day was fun and collaborative. Looking back on the whole day all I can use to describe it was easy, effortless, stress free, flawless and never ever forced. From the very beginning, we had explained to Henry that we do better with candid photos and struggle with staged photos. Out of the hundreds and hundreds of photos taken that day, neither of us were ever uncomfortable. Henry has such an ease about him and such an effortless way of making you feel comfortable no matter what pictures you’re taking.

Henry’s communication was on point throughout the whole process. After out elopement, Henry checked in with a text, an email and had amazing sneak peaks sent to us quicker than expected. They were the most beautiful pictures we had ever seen or been apart of. We scrolled though the sneaks in complete awe of what Henry had done. The pictures have a way of eliciting feelings, you can’t stop looking at them. Even when you aren’t looking at them, you’re thinking about them and can’t stop smiling! The whole elopement and the pictures were absolute magic and more than anything we could have ever imagined! Working with Henry was 100% worth it and if we had to do the whole thing over again we would do it exactly the same, starting with Henry!

When deciding to hire Henry you are getting SO much more than a photographer. You are getting an AMAZING photographer, someone to help with the planning, an assistant, someone to help you button each individual button on your dress (if that’s what you need), a friend and everything in between! He is truly amazing and his expertise is unmatched! If eloping is something you have considered and you want it to be the best experience, contact Henry! You will NOT regret it!

To know Henry is to love him

I can’t express how much he contributed to our elopement being the most amazing day of my life. His presence is so calming. I was horribly sick for the two days we spent with him and he was always so caring and allowed us to take time to transition at each location.

I was extremely nervous to get photos taken but Henry made us feel so comfortable. He guided us and made it all very natural. One of my favourite parts was when he would show us photos as he took them. He’d quickly scroll through and show what he had captured so far and they were all so beautiful, it just made it so special and made you feel amazing because the photographs were stunning.

He also delivered nearly 200 sneak peeks the next day. We were stunned at the speed. The quality of photos was unreal. He truly has a gift.

If you get to spend your elopement with Henry, you’re truly lucky. I can’t wait to get more photos with him in the future!
