The Sweetest Yosemite National Park Adventure Elopement With Pets | Katie & Daulton

How to Include Pets on Your Elopement Day

Early on Katie and Daulton knew that they wanted to have their dogs, Jax and Kona, be a part of their elopement day. You may be wondering if it’s possible to include your pets in your Yosemite National Park elopement, and let us say that we understand! We understand how much your fur babies mean to you. And we understand that sometimes they are the only ones who have been there for both your darkest days and your happiest days so there is no reason why they shouldn’t be a part of your elopement day too!

While there may be some extra planning involved, the good news is that there are options for including your pets at your Yosemite National Park elopement!

According to the Yosemite National Park website dogs and other pets are allowed “in developed areas, on fully paved roads, sidewalks, and bicycle paths (except when signed as not allowing pets) and in all campgrounds except walk-in campgrounds (e.g., Camp 4) and in group campsites. This means that dogs are allowed in some of our favorite areas like Glacier Point, Tunnel View, and the Lower Yosemite Fall Loop.

If you are thinking about bringing your pets to Yosemite National Park, follow the BARK acronym:

  • B: Bag your pet’s waste

  • A: Always leash your pet

  • R: Respect wildlife

  • K: Know where you can go

In addition, pets must be with you at all times, not tying them to trees. For a full list of rules with pets, see the website link above.

As your elopement photographers, we understand that including your pets on your elopement day is important. This is why our job is more than just photographing your day; rather, by assisting you from day one with planning and finding the right resources for your elopement day, we can help with making sure you guys can include everything that’s important to you.

The Couple and Their Decision to Elope at Glacier Point Yosemite

Katie and Daulton reach out to us back in 2020 before the pandemic even hit. They were looking for somewhere with incredible views and Yosemite National Park was already high on their list. After a little back and forth and some plan revisions due to COVID, we finally decided that Yosemite would indeed be the place to celebrate their elopement.

Katie and Daulton actually got legally married in Canada during the pandemic, but they knew they wanted to still take epic adventure photos and exchange private vows in an equally epic location. This is one of the reasons we love elopements. Your elopement does not have to be the day you legally get married. Your elopement day can be whenever you want and look however you want. Elopements are truly all about you as a couple and creating intentional moments that matter to you!

From the Sweetest First Look at Glacier Point to an Intimate Picnic in the Woods, this Is How To Elope In the California Mountains Adventurously

We planned a full day of adventure for Katie and Daulton’s Yosemite elopement and the couple also opted to include a GIF video as part of their Yosemite elopement package. We woke up early before the sun and stayed up late gazing at the starry sky to soak in all the Yosemite had to offer, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint!

We started the day off early in the morning with the couple doing their first look at the beautiful Glacier Peak followed by some of the sweetest vows I have ever witnessed. For their ceremony, Katie and Daulton had a dog wrangler for their two pups since even though Yosemite does allow dogs in the park, they do not allow pets at wedding ceremonies.

We then spent the rest of the morning adventuring around at more of our favorite Yosemite elopement locations like the Valley, Tunnel View, and Yosemite Falls. Katie and Daulton brought their two pups, Jax and Kona, and together the four of them sat down in the middle of the forest for a breakfast picnic followed by some playtime in the water for the fur babies.

In the afternoon, we went back to their cabin to take some getting ready photos before heading back into the park for sunrise photos at Taft Point. Taft Point at sunset is truly one of those places you just have to experience for yourself at some point! The way the light hits the mountains and cliffs, there is truly nothing more grand and inspiring. We adventured around until dark soaking in every last minute of this beautiful park.

Katie and Daulton, thank you so much for trusting us to capture your beautiful elopement day! We will forever be reliving these moments and can’t wait until we can reunite!

-Henry & Sergio

Kind words from the couple:

Where do we start! We reached out Henry in early 2020 and were scheduled for an elopement in Hawaii December 2020. Due to Covid we had to reschedule and change our plans to Yosemite in the summer of 2021. Throughout this process Henry was incredible to deal with. He checked up on us, helped us plan and made the long awaited journey as smooth as possible. In terms of the elopement day, everything was beyond perfect. Henry had everything planned and a 22-hour day of photos flew by, it was so worth it. When people see our photos they all say the same thing. “Those are the best wedding photos I’ve ever seen.” We also had Henry make a GIF video of our elopement and wow is it amazing. He does such amazing work and he is an absolute delight to be around. So we thank you Henry, and for anyone wanting that same experience, choose Henry.

What is a GIF Video

A GIF video consists of multiple GIFS (moving photos) and Stills (normal photos) to create a hybrid between a typical wedding video and a slideshow. A GIF video also includes audio from your Vows and all the in-between moments of your day allowing you to more fully relive your elopement day. IT TRULY IS THE BEST WAY TO TELL A LOVE STORY!
