The Couple and Their Decision to Plan an Elopement in Italy

Valerie and Jeff first inquired and booked their elopement when the world was still shut down and we didn’t have any location picked. They had originally dreamed of having a destination wedding in a chateau in France but when travel became restricted due to the pandemic, they had to put their plans on hold. We chose the Italian Dolomites as their new destination elopement location and had faith that it would happen.

Valerie and Jeff delayed their elopement for another year which allowed Europe to open back up for travel. After discussing a few international location ideas, the couple decided to start planning their elopement in Italy.

Weeks leading up to this day, we still didn’t know for sure if we could actually hike this trail in the Italian Dolomites because of the road closure. In fact, the day before their elopement, we still didn’t know.

But as always, life comes together in the most unexpected ways and allows us to experience what we are meant to experience at exactly the right time.

From a Canoe Session on the Lake To Hiking 14 Miles in the Italian Dolomites, this Is How To Plan a Dolomites Elopement Adventurously

The morning of Valerie and Jeff’s Dolomites elopement, we woke up early. The couple planned to have their first look and ceremony at Lago di Braies and we had the whole place to ourselves with only the birds as our guests.

After they exchanged vows, we rented canoes and went out on the lake for more photos.

We then took a little break to hang out in the couple’s hotel room to pop champagne and eat cake.

Later in the afternoon, we headed out to hike the trail up into the mountains. The road to the trail was still closed so we racked on an extra 4 miles each way on top of the trail we were supposed to do. Can I just say though that it was ALL SO WORTH IT?!

When we finally reached the end of the trail, it was breathtaking. We ended the day with a beautiful blue-hour picnic and, of course, it’s not an adventure elopement day without some hiking back in the dark.

We tracked a total of 14 miles for Valerie and Jeff’s Dolomites elopement but we tracked a whole lot more love and laughter over stories we shared with each other.

Valerie and Jeff, congratulations again, and thank you for trusting in me for your day!!

– Henry

Henry was flexible and made us feel at ease even when our location was still up in the air due to current weather conditions.

We found Henry through social media. We had an amazing experience from start to finish. We first met via FaceTime. At that point we were not sure exactly where we wanted to elope. Henry provided us with multiple location recommendations based on our vision. When we finally decided on the location he created the two different timelines for the day. We were in contact regularly either through email, text, and FaceTime. Whenever we had any questions or decided on something different we could always reach him. By the time we finally met in person, it was like reuniting with a friend rather than meeting your photographer for the first time. On our wedding day he made us feel completely comfortable and relaxed. We loved sharing stories with each other as we hiked to our destination. Henry was flexible and made us feel at ease even when our location was still up in the air due to current weather conditions. Henry is a kind, creative soul and we’re so glad we found him. We hope to keep in touch with him!
