Rochelle & Linden

I still can’t believe how gorgeous Rochelle and Linden’s Norway elopement was. From 5 pm the day before ‘til 5 am the next morning, we ran around the Lofoten Islands exploring one beautiful location after another while navigating nature’s curveballs.

Day 1: The Adventure Session

Rochelle and Linden are more than clients, they also happen to be amazing videographers (check out their incredible work here) so one thing we all knew for sure going into their wedding day was that we wanted to maximize the best light.

The thing about eloping in Norway in July is that during this time of year, the sun only goes below the horizon for one hour. That meant our elopement day timeline was going to look a bit different than normal.

The day before we were supposed to meet up with them, my husband (Rain and Pines) and I were scouting locations when we ran into Rochelle and Linden out on the trails. I guess great minds think alike 🙂

The next evening we met up at their cabin overlooking the fjords and spent some time documenting these two writing their vows. Rochelle and Linden got to just simply be in their element and I was reminded how truly, it is slow moments like these that are some of my favorite. It’s these moments that allow couples to spend quality time together and ease into the day without feeling rushed.

Afterward, we all got into our dry suits and kayaked in the Arctic for their adventure session. Of course, Norway weather is wild and the wind picked up so we felt every single wave, but the experience was beyond worth it!

Day 2: Rochelle and Linden’s Norway Elopement

Day two of Rochelle and Linden’s Norway elopement started the next evening following our kayak adventure. I met up with the couple at their cabin where they each got ready separately.

Rochelle read letters from her groom and her mother while getting ready and Linden also got to sit down and read some love notes as well.

We found a spot by the water and the couple shared their first look with an incredible view of the fjords in the background.

Afterward, we packed everything up and hiked to the first location but the weather turned on us, so I took them to a back-up location for their midnight picnic.

This was actually the third backup location I saved for Rochelle and Linden. I didn’t know if we would need it, but with the weather in the Arctic Circle being unpredictable, I wanted to make sure we were prepared for anything.

We arrived at our new location and had the whole space to ourselves. The couple set down their blanket and enjoyed a midnight picnic by the water with hot chocolate and cinnamon rolls. Rochelle and Linden (who are from Australia) even brought Tim Tams all the way to Norway and taught me how to Tim Tam Slam!

Afterward, they shared a first dance by the water, filmed each other on their Super8 camera, and then ended their Norway elopement with sunrise vows which were some of the best moments of the day.

This is the first time I’ve ever done an elopement where we started at 5 pm the day before and didn’t end till 5 am the next day.

Even though we had some weather hiccups along the way, these two and their spirits didn’t let that interfere with their love, their vows, and the fact that they eloped in such an inspiring location.

Rochelle and Linden, I appreciate you both more than you will ever know. Thank you for trusting in me and for allowing me to be there with you and be a part of your story.

– Henry

Although our day didn’t go perfectly to plan, Henry ensured it was still perfect and that alone is enough to hire him.

Our experience with Henry was nothing short of magical! It was a dream working with him from start to finish. He was always available to answer any questions we might have, jump on a call to go over everything and we always felt supported during the whole process.

Now our experience on the day was even more amazing! He made us feel so relaxed and comfortable and it was like an old friend photographing us. Not once did we feel we couldn’t be ourselves and that is the most magical gift a photographer can give a couple on their wedding day. As we chose to get married in the Arctic Circle, the weather wasn’t that stable and after hiking for an hour and releasing that the mountain was covered in clouds, we quickly pivoted to another location. Henry had not one back up, but three back up locations to ensure that our ceremony and picnic locations were beautiful and they were more amazing than we could have dreamed of. Although our day didn’t go perfectly to plan, Henry ensured it was still perfect and that alone is enough to hire him. As wedding photographers ourselves, we knew straight away that Henry was our dream photographer and the photos did not disappoint, they are INSANE!!!! We have looked through them multiple times every day and cannot choose favourites (and this is only the sneak peek!). They are everything we dreamed of and more and we cannot wait to see the full gallery. He captured the raw, honest, most intimate moments of who we are and half the time we forgot he was even there. Henry, thank you for making our day the way it was. Thank you for being a beautiful person, friend, artist and for capturing these moments for us to love and treasure forever. Love Rochelle and Linden x
