Red Top Lookout: The Best Fire Lookout For A Couples Photo Session in Washington

I had a conversation with a friend the other day and we looked back on the photos of us back then and I couldn’t help but think “Man, time truly flies.”

It’s such a cliche but it’s crazy to look back on photos of yourselves: Photos of moments you know vividly in your heart, photos of moments barely remember happened, photos of your younger selves, photos of the person you once were who might become what you have yet imagined.

We all experience so much but yet not enough.

We all see so much but yet those memories tend to fade.

One thing I have to constantly tell myself or otherwise life tends to slip away from me: Slow down so you can have space between sounds. Slow down so you can have space between thoughts.

For this couple photo session, I had the honor to document Riss and Steven’s 5 years of marriage, and this motto was exactly what I had in mind when documenting the couple.

Riss and Steven are a very talented husband/wife photographer/videographer team who initially inquired about one of my Hey Darling photography workshops back in 2020. When we had to postpone the workshop due to the pandemic, the couple decided to switch to a mentorship session with me instead. Since they would also be celebrating their 5-year wedding anniversary, they booked a couples photo session and we got to spend the whole weekend together exploring Washington.

Fire Lookout Anniversary Photos in Washington

Even though Riss and Steven’s anniversary photos took place in June, it felt more like a Washington November.

We explored a new trail at Red Top Lookout and when we got there it got foggyyyyyyy. As we started photographing, it started to clear up and we then experienced the way the sun shone while the fog was rolling in and out between us. It was sooo cold but so worth it for the coolest golden hour in the clouds.

Riss and Steven, thank you for allowing me to document your love and your adventure. Thank you for enduring the cold and for giving me your all.

Getting to be behind the camera was honestly nerve wrecking, and Henry calmed all of those anxieties.

I have been following Henry for years and have always been a huge admirer of him and his art. As a wedding photographer myself, he is one of my biggest inspirations. Investing in him for a photography mentorship was one of the best decisions I have made for my business. He sat down and answered questions and shared his knowledge with us, and it is more valuable than I could have hoped for! We also had Henry take photos of us for our anniversary, and it was such a dreammmm!!! Getting to be behind the camera was honestly nerve wrecking, and Henry calmed all of those anxieties. He made us laugh, and feel so comfortable with him. He truly is one of a kind and we are SO glad we got to learn from him AND be in front of his lens!!!
